Plumpton Estate Rock Lodge Red

Plumpton Estate Rock Lodge Red

Production Note

Each year our students harvest grapes from our Rock Lodge vineyard in Scaynes Hill, one of the oldest vineyards in the UK. Some of the varieties are fermented as a field blend, in stainless steel tanks for 7 days at 20-30°C, to extract flavour, structure and colour. Afterwards, the grapes are gently pressed. The Pinot Noir is added to the blend after trials. The wine then ages in tank for 6 months. It finishes malolactic fermentation in early Spring, before bottling.

Tasting Note

This is a supple and refreshing red wine with aromas of plum, cranberry and dark fruits. It has smooth tannins with a rounded finish and pairs well with rich tomato and chicken dishes or English farmhouse cheeses.
